The crispness of fall is in the air. Time to pause with a deep, mindful breath. We all face
challenges, and many would agree amidst the struggles that we can embrace gratitude
and welcome an opportunity to focus on wellness.
Mindful Eating: With Thanksgiving around the corner, practice mindful eating to maintain a balanced and healthy lifestyle. Savor your meals, make conscious food choices, and find balance between indulgence and nourishment during holiday gatherings. Small plates and portion sizes, drinking lots of water, and limiting or avoiding alcohol will help manage weight and maximize the fun.
Self-Care and Stress Management: November can bring added stress, whether due to holiday preparations or family tensions. Incorporate self-care practices in managing stress and maintaining well-being such as deep breathing exercises, mindfulness techniques, and engaging in activities that bring joy and relaxation.
Fall Fitness and Outdoor Activities: Prioritizing physical activity, even as the weather cools down, is important. Activities such as brisk walks, outdoor yoga, hiking, or cycling can improve your mood. Allow the outdoors to help you reduce stress and improve your overall physical health.
Get cozy: Try incorporating a gratitude journal into your November routine. It’s so easy to think of three things you are grateful for that occurred during the day. Jot those thoughts down and see how your mindset shifts.
Cold and Flu Prevention: With the onset of colder weather, it’s crucial to focus on preventive measures against colds and the flu. Ways to boost the immune system include getting adequate sleep, wash your hands, staying hydrated, and considering vaccination options.
Giving Back to the Community: Participate in acts of kindness and give back to the community. Support your neighborhood and community by volunteering, donating, and supporting causes that align with your values and passions.
Consider joining History Colorado Center, Denver, on Saturday, November 22md for a day of giving for Family Volunteer Day. This free intergenerational activity supports our community and is loads of fun!
November presents an opportune time to reflect on gratitude, prioritize wellness, and express appreciation for our physical and mental wellbeing. Open your arms wide and embrace the joy and gratitude of the season. Happy Thanksgiving!
